At the beginning of the meeting, we worked on Birgante challenges 10-14, then switched over to learning about TCP/IP addresses and ports, then switched over to the Cyber Basics VM to use Kali Linux, and Wireshark to sniff web traffic and see how blackhat hackers steal username passwords (and why VPNs are so important). Lastly, we wrapped up by switching back over to Brigange to complete challenge 15 by using "netcat" (the "nc" command) to connect to a special password service running on port 30000.
If you didn't complete up through Brigante level 15, be sure to do so before our next meeting in November so we'll all be on the same page! If anyone anyone gets stuck, just email tweeks (and be sure to CC a parent or guardian too).
Next time we get together, we'll quickly wrap up through Brigante 15, and probably dig a bit deeper into how to use Wireshark to solve CTF challenges that have pcap files attached to them, and maybe touch on some other cool networking or even web challenges!
