For 11 years, there has been a formal
banquet held each April, the month of the tragedy. As we all know, that was not
possible this year due to the Covid-19 virus. So instead, we are holding
tonight’s virtual banquet. Over the 12 years of our existence, 625 volunteers
will have been honored and $72,000 donated back into our local communities.
This is done via the charity of choice of the 100 High School, Collegiate, and
General public Distinguished Award recipients. We are trying to shine a
light on “neighbors helping neighbors”, and to recognize extraordinary citizens
throughout the New River Valley who give of themselves to continually improve
our community.
