Youth and young adults are more likely to thrive if they feel understood and accepted, in a safe space or environment. This virtual program will highlight the experiences of two CALS faculty members who have worked with programs that create space for understanding and acceptance. 

 Erika Bonnett is an Extension Specialist for 4-H Youth Development. As part of her job, she serves as a mentor for the Teen Summit for Social Justice and Teen Summit Leadership Team as well as the 4-H Equity and Inclusion taskforce that empower teens to find their voice around creating change in their communities in areas they are passionate about. 

 Dave Winston is an Extension Specialist in the School of Animal Sciences and serves as co-advisor for Students for Cultivating Change at Virginia Tech. The mission of Students for Cultivating Change is to to advance LGBTQ+ issues in agriculture, natural resources, and beyond.
