Alexandria and its surroundings provided training camps, hospitals, and even burial grounds for thousands of African American Union soldiers during the American Civil War. To help us commemorate Black History Month, Virginia Tech's Kurt Luther, associate professor of computer science, director of the Crowd Intelligence Lab, and project director of Civil War Photo Sleuth and City of Alexandria Council Member John T.
