This webinar is part of the Continuing Education Webinar Series for Virginia Master Naturalist volunteers.
Description: Urban forests are gaining in importance with the increase of urban growth and the loss of urban woodlots. With the loss of urban forests comes the loss of the ecosystem services the wooded areas provided. These services are both tangible and intangible. With the increase of urbanization, more emphasis needs to be placed on where and how to build in wooded areas while retaining the urban forests and their ecosystem services.
Presenter: After running a commercial arboriculture company for 30 years, Joel Koci is now an Urban and Community Forestry Extension Associate at Virginia State University. He is a Board Certified Master Arborist MAC 019-B, Chesapeake Bay Landscaping Professional Level 1, and Tree Risk Qualified by the International Society of Arboriculture.
Michelle Prysby, Virginia Master Naturalist Program Director, is the host.
Support for this webinar was provided by a USDA Urban and Community Forestry grant administered through the Virginia Department of Forestry.
