This webinar is part of the Continuing Education series of the Virginia Master Naturalist program.
Description: The much-awaited
Flora of Virginia mobile application was released just this week! The App contains everything you love from the Flora of Virginia book and more. Plus, it is portable and updatable. While the App is not free, it is a very useful resource for Virginia Master Naturalists and others who are identifying or learning about plants in Virginia. The App combines information from several other ecological data sets with the Flora's own data, including moisture regime, light regime, level of invasiveness, state and global rareness rankings, and listings as rare or endangered. It contains a nifty graphic key, as well as the standard dichotomous keys. In this webinar, we will provide some background and history of the App's development, and we'll demonstrate everything available on the App and how to use the graphic key.
Presenter: Bland Crowder is Executive Director of the

He copyedited and was liaison with the publisher of the Flora and compiled taxonomic descriptions and the glossary for the volume. He is publications chair of the board of the Virginia Native Plant Society and is former coordinator of education, volunteers, and publications with the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia.
