Description: This webinar is part of the High Five From Nature series with the Virginia Master Naturalist program. Join us as we learn how to identify five songbirds that nest in Virginia but are heading for points south this month. We’ll learn how to identify these birds by sight and sound, gain insight on their migratory routes, and discuss what we can do to help these species on both their summer and wintering grounds.
Presenter: Carolyn Sedgwick joins us from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology where she is an ambassador for the Lab’s programs and raises funds for bird conservation, research, and education. Carolyn has worked in the bird and habitat conservation arena for over a decade and has been hooked on birds since she was in high school. She holds an undergraduate degree in Natural Resources from Cornell and a master’s in Environmental Management from Duke.
Host: Michelle Prysby, Virginia Master Naturalist program director
