Through a collaboration with Carilion Clinic, students in the College of Engineering have created a device that turns bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machines into functional ventilators. Led by Joseph Meadows, Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering, the team has developed sensors for the device that monitors air flow, giving health professionals a better understanding of how much air is coming in and out of patients.
