The Advanced Propulsion and Power Lab (APPL) is part of both the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, and home to one of the largest propulsion-related research portfolios in the United States.
Government and industry partners have been a mainstay of the research produced by the APPL team, which has collaborated with the Air Force Research Laboratory, NASA, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, GE, Naval Air Systems Command, and many others. Those connections have given the researchers the means to become familiar with contemporary challenges facing propulsion engineering and to adapt their research to address those needs.
