This webinar is part of the Virginia Master Naturalist Continuing Education series.
Description: Please join Tim McCoy, an Extension Associate with the Virginia Tech Pesticide Safety Education Program (VTPP), for an informative discussion about the legitimate role of pesticides in invasive species control, agricultural production, and our urban environment. Tim will cover topics ranging from the Food Quality Protection Act and how it affects the registration of pesticides, to practical advice you should consider if and when you need to use a pesticide.
Presenter: Tim McCoy is an educator and content developer for the Virginia Tech Pesticide Programs, a unit of the Entomology department, responsible for providing educational material on safe pesticide handling, application, and disposal to applicators and the general public in Virginia.
Tim is a trained entomologist with expertise in insecticide chemistry and the environmental fate of pesticides.
While Tim has worked in various areas of pest management for most of his 15 year career with Virginia Tech, he currently gets to work on the challenging topic of balancing the priorities of pollinator conservation and responsible pesticide use.
Tim was the keynote speaker at our 2016 Virginia Master Naturalist Statewide Conference, speaking about native bees.
This webinar was presented on 13 December 2016.
